- The RDM app runs locally on your PC. Files download straight from the website you're downloading from to your computer — they never pass through our servers.
- The only thing the app sends us is an update check (a request to
/api/latest). - The browser extension talks only to the RDM app on your own PC at
127.0.0.1. - No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking — in the app, the extension or this website.
The RDM app
RDM is a desktop program. Everything it does — downloading, pausing, resuming, sorting files into folders, remembering your settings and download list — happens on your computer, and that data stays on your computer.
When you download a file, RDM connects directly to the server that hosts it, just like your browser would. We don't see which files you download, from where, or how big they are.
Update checks
To tell you when a new version is out, the app requests https://rdm.sherazahmad.com/api/latest. That request contains nothing about you or your downloads — no ID, no usage statistics. Like any web request, it reaches the server with your IP address and the app's version in the request headers. We don't keep logs of these requests or use them to identify anyone.
The browser extension
The extension's job is to hand downloads from your browser to the RDM app. When it does, it sends the download's details to the app on your own computer (http://127.0.0.1) — never to us or anyone else. Those details are:
- the download link, a suggested file name, size and type, if known;
- the page it came from (address and title, used to name videos);
- the cookies and request headers for that link and your browser's user-agent, so sites that require you to be logged in serve the file to RDM the same way they would to your browser.
The extension doesn't collect your browsing history and doesn't send anything over the internet itself. You can switch download capture off in its popup at any time.
This website
rdm.sherazahmad.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, fonts or embeds. It's served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request information (such as your IP address) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. The download page remembers, for the current browser tab only, that it already started your download — so reloading it doesn't download the file twice.
Children
RDM isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect anything from anyone — there's simply nothing to collect.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a future version of RDM ever needs to send more than the update check, it will be explained here and in the app first.
